SlickText is a great SMS tool — if you run a restaurant, a retail store, or a service business. It is not built for creators. That is not a knock on them. They serve 15,000+ brands and do it well. But if you are a fitness coach, musician, adult creator, or anyone building a fan-owned audience, the feature gap is real.
I built MessageMyFans because existing SMS platforms treat creators like an afterthought. You are shoved into a generic "marketing" box with QR codes for restaurant menus and popups for ecommerce sites. None of that helps you monetize a fan relationship.
What SlickText actually does well
SlickText is a solid general-purpose SMS platform. They have:
- Affordable entry pricing. $29/month for 500 credits is reasonable for a small business.
- Good automation. Welcome series, drip campaigns, A/B tests, birthday texts — all work well.
- Web forms and popups. Easy ways to capture phone numbers from website visitors.
- Decent analytics. Click tracking, segmentation, opt-out intelligence.
- Integrations. Shopify, Zapier, Mailchimp, Slack — useful if you are running a store.
If you are a pizza shop trying to send coupon codes, SlickText makes sense. If you are a creator trying to build a paid subscriber community, it does not.
The pricing reality for creators
SlickText starts at $29/month for 500 message credits. That sounds cheap until you realize what 500 credits actually means.
Every text you send burns a credit. Every MMS burns more. If you have 1,000 subscribers and want to text them twice a week, you need at least 8,000 credits a month. That puts you on the $169/month plan — and that is before you factor in replies, welcome messages, or drip campaigns.
MessageMyFans is free during beta. No monthly fee. No credit system. No setup cost. When we do add pricing it will scale with your actual audience size, not punish you for messaging your fans.
The creator feature gap
Here is what SlickText does not have — and will likely never add — because it is not their market:
- Paid subscriber tiers. Fans cannot pay to subscribe to your texts. There is no built-in monetization.
- Content safety filters. If you are an adult creator, one slip in a mass text can get your entire account banned by carriers. SlickText has basic filtering. MessageMyFans has content safety built specifically for creator content.
- A branded fan page. SlickText gives you generic web forms. MessageMyFans gives you a custom landing page that looks like your brand — your colors, your logo, your vibe.
- Audience ownership. SlickText lets you upload lists and export some data, but full subscriber export is limited. With MessageMyFans you own your list completely — phone numbers, emails, tiers, join dates. CSV. One click.
The core problem: SlickText treats your fans as "contacts" in a marketing database. MessageMyFans treats them as a community you own.

SlickText is a competent SMS marketing platform for businesses. But creators are not businesses. We need different tools — monetization, safety, ownership, and branding — that generic platforms will never prioritize.
MessageMyFans was built by creators who got sick of paying monthly fees for tools that do not understand our business. Fair pricing. Your data. A dashboard designed for one person managing everything from their phone.
Own your audience. Do not just text them.
